We believe the way authentication has worked for 60 years is fundamentally broken. Systems built on shared secrets — passwords, OTPs, push codes — will always be phishable. We set out to eliminate the attack surface entirely.

Our platform uses the security chip already inside the devices your users carry. No credential ever leaves the device. Our server does not and cannot know your secret. This is the power of public key cryptography.

Our Story

From a wearable idea to MFA 2.0.

IDEE translated into German, means 'idea'. The idea = IDentity.

From day one, that idea had a purpose: make digital identities secure. We started with a wearable, filed patents, built prototypes, and navigated every obstacle the industry threw at us. The road was rarely straight. But every twist sharpened our thinking, every turn brought us closer. MFA 2.0 wasn't a pivot — it was always the destination. We just had to earn it.

2015 Founded.

2016 Filed patents on continuous authentication using a wearable.

2017 First prototypes of wearable were manufactured.

2018 Pivot to Digital Identities (B2B2C).

2019 Won several awards, including most innovative start-up in Retail in Germany.

2020 COVID pivot and restructuring.

2021 MFA was the answer we'd been building toward. Deka Bank became our first enterprise banking customer in Germany — clearing a BaFin-approved Cloud IDP for banking, a regulatory first in the country.

2022 Signed with TD Synnex — the world's largest IT distributor — giving AuthN instant reach across thousands of enterprise partners worldwide.

2023 VAPS GmbH — the market-leading IT provider for VW and Audi dealerships across Germany — standardised on AuthN as their exclusive MFA solution.

Present IDEE continues to expand its channel-first focus, delivering phish-proof MFA 2.0 to enterprises across regulated industries worldwide.

Founder & CEO

Al Lakhani

Indian New Yorker in Lederhosen. Al has spent more than 25 years inside the world's hardest financial crimes and cyber investigations — and built a company from what he learned.

Before IDEE, he founded and led the forensics & cyber practice at Alvarez & Marsal, growing it to 65 professionals and $35M in annual revenue. His most notable engagements include the investigation of Swiss banks to identify Holocaust victims' assets, the wind-down of Lehman Brothers and Washington Mutual, asset quality reviews for the Spanish, Greek, and Irish banks, the reopening of the Bank of Cyprus in 2013, and serving as interim COO of Rubicon Global — now publicly listed.

He taught blockchain applications at Munich University for over two years and is co-inventor of four patents on digital identity. After logging thousands of hours watching what broken authentication costs organisations, he founded IDEE and built MFA 2.0.

Chief Security Architect & 1st Employee

Dennis Okpara

IDEE's first employee. Dennis holds an MSc in Information Security with Distinction from Royal Holloway, University of London — one of the world's leading institutions for cybersecurity research.

Certified: CISSP · CISM · AWS Security Specialty · Microsoft Azure Security Engineer. The cryptographic architecture that powers AuthN is built on the patents Dennis co-authored.

Co-inventor of four patents on digital identity and insider threat prevention — the foundation on which MFA 2.0 is built.

Privacy

We collect zero PII. Not because compliance requires it — because we believe it's the right architecture. There is no IDEE database of your users' data to steal.

Innovation

We take unconventional approaches to hard problems. MFA 2.0 didn't come from iterating on passwords — it came from questioning whether authentication needed secrets at all.

Determination

We've been told passwords can't be eliminated. We've been told hardware tokens are the only answer. We kept building anyway. We will keep building.

Authenticity

We say what we mean. Our marketing doesn't oversell and our product doesn't underdeliver. When we say phish-proof, we mean it. Phishing is structurally impossible.

We build for the end user — not just the CIO and CISO. If authentication is difficult to use, people circumvent it. Security that workers bypass, is no security at all.

Awards defined our startup years. Since 2022 we've been focused on something harder — scaling. We don't chase trophies. We chase enterprise deals and zero breaches. That said, independent analyst coverage matters, and since 2023 we have been featured in the KuppingerCole Leadership Compass for Passwordless Authentication — one of the most rigorous evaluations in identity security.
